 What is Counselling?

Counselling is a talking therapy, where people can share their thoughts and feelings in a safe non-judgmental environment. At times people can struggle feeling alone and isolated, feeling unable to share with those that are close, through fear of being judged, causing bother or upsetting someone. When a person is concerned and alone with those worries, it can manifest and cause complications managing with every day life.

Life can present many challenges, working in a therapeutic counselling environment can help you to explore and identify negative thoughts, feelings and behaviours that are causing distress. This can empower you to change negative ways of being which will encourage your positive growth.

Is Counselling for you?

  • Have you experienced a loss of a relative, friend or animal?

  • Have your circumstances changed, causing you to feel trapped?

  • Is coping with everyday life a struggle?

  • Do you feel like no one understands?

  • Are you finding it difficult to relate to others?

  • Are you feeling alone and isolated?

  • Are fears and phobias dictating your life?

  • Are physical inabilities causing you to feel frustrated?

  • Do you want a place to share?

If this is the case, then counselling is for you.

How does Counselling work?

The sessions are client-lead, working at the client’s pace. This is in a confidential setting that enables you to recognise barriers causing you to feel stuck. Working through blocks together, looking for alternative ways to manage can promote your well-being.

Chamomile Counselling has two fully qualified counsellors, who are BACP registered, both abiding to the ethical framework and guidelines ensuring the clients safety. They are both integrative in their style, combining person-centred approach, cognitive behavioural therapy and transactional analysis since each person is unique. We recognise that it is fundamental to be flexible and tailor sessions accordingly.

Both Counsellors at Chamomile Counselling have experience in adult and child therapy, working with Mind and previously in schools at Place2be.

Talking is an important part of our relationships. It can strengthen your ties with people and help you stay in good mental health, being listened too helps you feel that other people care about you and what you have to say.

Animal Bereavement

Approximatley 45% of the UK population have a pet, for a lot of people a pet becomes a part of their family. For some people a pet becomes, the child they never had, the relationships that never happened, a childs best friend, this list is immense and individual, but all with the same outcome of a relationship with another being, where love was present.

When a pet passes it is normal to experience the feelings of sadness, hurt, disbelief, shock, numbness, anger, pain, guilt and overwhelming grief. There is no 'correct' way to feel, it is an individual journey. At a time which is already painful it can sometimes be made harder still by a lack of understanding and empathy from others, this is where counselling may be some help.

At Chamomile Counselling we understand the importance of people receiving support and empathy at this sad time. We are able to offer a safe, confidential and non-judgmental space for you to reflect on your feelings and emotions. We offer an assessment for you to see if

counselling might benefit you at this time of grief.

Throughout my life I have had a strong empathy for people and animals.

Supporting people has always been a large part of my personality.

Working together, building a strong relationship can enable you to break down the blocks which may be stopping you from moving forward in your life.

I recognise asking for help can feel daunting, but working together at your own pace in a non-judgmental, confidential and empathetic environment can be the start of your journey.

Animal bereavement is an area of counselling that is sometimes overlooked. For many of us, our pets are an extension of our family, so the grieving process is distressing, causing heartache.
